About Dubai Money Matters
Dubai Money Matters is a free resource for expats living and working in the United Arab Emirates. We build calculators and write plain-English guides for the questions every UAE expat ends up asking — gratuity, salary, visa costs, cost of living, utility bills.
Who runs this site
My name is Hafiz Hanif. I'm a software developer currently based in Dubai. I've spent 16 years in the Gulf region — 15 years in Saudi Arabia and the past year here in Dubai.
I'm not a financial advisor, an HR consultant, or an immigration lawyer. What I am is someone who has lived through these systems firsthand, helped dozens of friends and family navigate them, and built tools to make the answers easier to find.
You can verify who I am and connect with me on LinkedIn.
How we keep calculators accurate
- Every calculator links to its source — UAE Labour Law articles, MOHRE pages, DEWA tariff documents, or official government portals.
- Each tool has a written guide explaining the formula in plain English so you can verify the math yourself.
- When laws or tariffs change (as the UAE Labour Law did in 2022), we update both the calculator and the guide, and note the change.
- If you spot something incorrect, email contact@dubaimoneymatters.com and I'll fix it and credit you.
What we do not do
We do not give personalised financial, legal, tax, or immigration advice. The tools and articles are for general guidance. For decisions about your specific situation, please consult a licensed professional. See our Disclaimer for details.
How the site is funded
Dubai Money Matters is funded by display advertising. Ads are clearly marked and never influence the content of our guides or the math in our calculators. We do not currently run sponsored posts.
